When it comes to the professional future of young people, desire and reality sometimes diverge widely. Often, young people have no idea what to do after school. Many parents therefore try to advise their offspring. A good opportunity to get a little closer to choosing a career is the parentum - Parents+Schoolchildren's Day in Lüneburg.
After a great response from parents and exhibitors to the premiere in autumn 2018, the format will take place again on Thursday, 26 September 2019 in the centrally located Oberschule im Wasserturm: around 30 exhibitors are expected to advise interested parents and pupils* on training and studies. The organiser is the IfT Institut für Talententwicklung in cooperation with the Agentur für Arbeit Lüneburg-Uelzen and the Arbeitgeberverband Lüneburg-Nordostniedersachsen e.V. (Employers' Association Lüneburg-Nordostniedersachsen e.V.).
The focus of the fair is the personal discussion between visitors* and exhibitors. Here, questions can be asked, ideas for the future can be developed together and prejudices can be overcome. The aim is for every*r visitor* to get an idea of the various professions and find something that suits their talents and interests. But not only important information is exchanged. Such direct contact can later develop into training or an internship.
An informative lecture programme gives parents and pupils* valuable tips on topics such as a stay abroad, an employment test or parental support in choosing a career. At the Berufsschule meeting point, the vocational schools in Lüneburg provide information about their offers for secondary school and vocational qualifications. Vocational courses and job pilots round off the offer.
Parents are important advisors when choosing a career," says project manager Kerrin Bergbauer. "It is already a great challenge to find what corresponds to the inclinations and talents of son or daughter from around 19,000 courses of study and around 330 training occupations. The parentum offers parents and their children a place where they can direct their questions to a human counterpart," says Bergbauer. The Internet provides a lot of information. However, a personal conversation often helps a lot.
The visitors* are lovingly catered for by the professional student catering of the Oberschule am Wasserturm.
